Social algorithm is a multi-agent based algorithm, where the the agents can be people, animals or software surrogates (avatars). It can used for distributed problem solving, for enforcing rules in social encounters, and for simulation of learning and evolution, and for the study of emergent properties. Social algorithms are sometimes used, but not always, in social software.
